Naadloze overgang
In de markt van prefab bouwproductie is het een doorn in het oog: de gap tussen het engineerings- of tekendomein naar de productieomgeving. Bij veel productiebedrijven gaat dit als vanouds ‘via papier’. Dat wil zeggen: uitgeprinte tekeningen, detailboekjes of projectdocumenten. En dan spreken we nog niet over machine-bestanden die vaak via omwegen de juiste machine bereiken voor de productie van een element.

“Dat moet én kan anders”, dachten Henk Jan Nieuwenhuis (BIM4production®) en Johan de Groot (CADblanche). De bedrijven sloegen de handen ineen en ontwikkelde een slimme tool die als een plug-in op engineeringssoftware werkt. De plug-in zorgt voor een geautomatiseerde overgang van de benodigde bestanden tussen het CAD pakket naar de productievolgsoftware van bijvoorbeeld BIM4Production®.

Onafhankelijke tool
Johan de Groot: “Vanuit CADblanche ontwikkelen wij software dat repeterend en tijdrovend werk in de bouwindustrie wegneemt. De SYNC2 past perfect bij onze ambitie, al was het voor ons in de ontwikkeling wel een vereiste dat deze plug-in niet exclusief naar BIM4Production® exporteert”.  Vanuit BIM4Production® was dit geen probleem, aldus Henk Jan Nieuwenhuis. “Onze focus ligt op het automatiseren en optimaliseren van de productieflow van bouwelementen en dat begint in onze visie al bij engineering. Door deze samenwerking laten wij zien dat ons platform ‘open’ staat voor slimme integraties met software van derden. Met de introductie van SYNC2 is dit wat meer omlijnt en lost het een pijnpunt op in de markt. Wanneer de eigen ICT-afdeling van een (grotere) fabriek tegen onze software aan wil ontwikkelen, dan kan dat ook.”

SYNC2 lost terugkerend pijnpunt op
De SYNC2-knop lost een terugkerend pijnpunt op. In de dagdagelijkse praktijk is de output van engineering vaak papieren informatie, van tekeningen tot aan detailboekjes. Met de SYNC2-knop van CADblanche in combinatie met de engineeringsmodule van BIM4Production® is dit verleden tijd. Volgens beide bedrijven levert de plug-in voor de engineer al snel 10 tot 15% tijdswinst op. Daarnaast brengt het in de combinatie de kantoorkosten (papierloze fabriek), faalkosten (altijd de meest actuele informatie voorhanden) significant naar beneden. En de SYNC2 is ook nog eens uiterst eenvoudig in gebruik. Iets waar CADblanche altijd oog voor heeft.

Zowel Johan de Groot als Henk Jan Nieuwenhuis  zijn ervan overtuigd dat SYNC2 waardevolle functionaliteit gaat bieden voor de prefab bouwindustrie. Seamless Transition
In the prefabricated construction market, it’s a thorn in the side: the gap between the engineering or drafting domain and the production environment. At many manufacturing companies, this is still handled “on paper,” as it always has been. That is to say: printed drawings, detail manuals, or project documents. And that’s not even mentioning machine files, which often take a roundabout route to reach the correct machine for producing a component.

“This has to—and can—be done differently,” thought Henk Jan Nieuwenhuis (BIM4production®) and Johan de Groot (CADblanche). The companies joined forces and developed a smart tool that works as a plug-in for engineering software. The plug-in ensures an automated transfer of the necessary files from the CAD package to the production sequencing software, such as BIM4Production®.

Independent tool
Johan de Groot: “At CADblanche, we develop software that eliminates repetitive and time-consuming work in the construction industry. SYNC2 fits perfectly with our ambition, although it was a requirement for us during development that this plug-in not export exclusively to BIM4Production®.” From BIM4Production®’s perspective, this was not a problem, according to Henk Jan Nieuwenhuis. “Our focus is on automating and optimizing the production flow of building components, and in our view, that starts with engineering. Through this collaboration, we’re demonstrating that our platform is ‘open’ to smart integrations with third-party software. With the introduction of SYNC2, this has been further defined and resolves a pain point in the market. If the in-house IT department of a (larger) factory wants to develop solutions that integrate with our software, that’s also possible.”

SYNC2 Resolves a Recurring Pain Point
The SYNC2 button resolves a recurring pain point. In day-to-day practice, engineering output is often paper-based information, ranging from drawings to detailed manuals. With CADblanche’s SYNC2 button combined with the BIM4Production® engineering module, this is a thing of the past. According to both companies, the plug-in quickly saves engineers 10 to 15% of their time. In addition, when used together, the combination significantly reduces office costs (paperless factory) and failure costs (the most up-to-date information is always available). And SYNC2 is also extremely easy to use—something CADblanche always prioritizes.

Both Johan de Groot and Henk Jan Nieuwenhuis are convinced that SYNC2 will offer valuable functionality for the prefab construction industry.
